Moccasins

Okay, so ffffffffiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnaaalllllllllllllyyyyyyyy we find high top moccasins for princess!  Yea! I want to use moose, because it is so soft. But, cow will do for now. I found a pretty soft pair and she likes them, so next comes the beading part. I’m not sure if I will bead on them or not. I’m still debating. These have a lot of things on them and are not the ones she will wear indefinately. So, as I am working on her belt and dress, I will decide. We are hoping to post a video on here. Will work on it tonight. Wish me luck!

Pow-Wow

Well, I just learned that there will be a Pow-wow here on April 5th. It is a contest. Princess is not hardly ready to compete but………………..she wants to! So I am kicking it into high gear and trying to finish her dress. I will be looking for some new moccasins for her today or at least the leather. She has low tops but of course wants high tops. I must admit she is doing very well. She has learned to step backwards and side step. I am so proud of her!

So right now I am charging up my camcorder and I will be able to hopefully figure out how to post movies of her on here. I am trying to learn, but somewhere between my brain and the electronic devices is a gap….. ha!ha!ha! No wonder I never ventured into the electronic field

Another project…..

Just another barrette…… This is a Sioux design.

Barrette

Here are 2 barrettes that are still on the loom. The blue one I made for princesses little best friend. She is also learning to dance with her. They are really cute and have 2 totally different beats. The yellow one is for princess. I actually made 2 of those. Princess has hair past her bottom and it is ssssssssooooooooooooo thick!!!! But it is beautiful. So her hair requires adult size beadwork. Have to run. Will post more later

This is only about 1/8 of the way complete…… The silver lined sea blue gets a little distorted when the size of the picture is increased.

The practice continues….

So we spent the weekend practice dancing. Princess and her little dancing buddy decided they wanted to try a FAST song…well, that lasted about 10 seconds So we went back to windsong, girls traditional. I am making a belt for one of her costumes. It is coming out so beautiful! She picked the colors and at first I wasn’t crazy about them, but I must admit it is shaping up pretty nice. I will try to post a picture of what it looks like so far. It is silver lined sea blue, silver lined medium blue and cream. I am also working on her barettes. I haven’t cut them off the loom yet, but I will try to post them anyway. I also received a telephone call from her school yesterday and talked to her homeroom teacher. Great news! Next month she will be tested for the gifted program! I am so proud of her! and very excited! I Love homeschooling her, but did not really realize how much she would advance by being taught at home! It makes a big difference when children receive individual attention in the learning arena.  Thanks for stopping by and I will get busy trying to post some pics………

Happy Birthday

Today, my oldest sibling turns 51. That must mean I am 21…… Her birthday present is a new baby. She legally adopted a beautiful baby girl yesterday. Her name is Neveah Jade and today she turns 3 months old …..I haven’t received pictures of my new niece yet, but I will share them with you when I get them.

Princess has already decided they will dance together. 

So, to my sister, I have no special wish for you today because all of your prayers and dreams have been answered with the arrival of Neveah.  I know Tungasila will bring you both joy and happiness in the coming days, months and years. And yes, I believe it was divine intervention….

Toot and Nevah- Happy Birthday. Princess and I love you both.

Regalia

That word is very funny to me. Regalia. It is proper, yes, but not what I grew up calling our costumes. Anyway. I picked up the shawl, still no fringe, but at least the size is perfect. I am having a time trying to get this fringe?????? Unbelievable. I am looking into my sister in law getting a “crown” made for princess. I want it to display our tribal flag. I am hoping to hear something today. I also purchased a shawl from Saks that has 10 inch fringe on it. That one may just have to do. It is not the right color, but in a pinch would work. It is gold, which is not on princesses agenda…….. She does like the sparkle though, so there is hope Oh yeah, she has also “decided” that she wants to be a jingle dress dancer???????  uuuummmmmm no, not yet. She loves practicing and has picked up the rhythm a bit, now she is just waiting to show off her skill

When life gets too heavy…..

When things get heavy in your life and it seems your shoulders have too much weight on them, drop to your knees and pray.

Too me it seems the weight is just a sign letting you know that the answers to your problems are a prayer away. Just maybe, that is why things feel heavy…………
